Squalane - natures facelift

Squalene is a fat soluble anti oxidant found naturally in our skin. It plays an integral role in giving your skin the youthful radiance we enjoy throughout our twenties. Unfortunately from the age of thirty the levels of squalene that our body produces reduces significantly. Supplementing your  depleting levels with a product containing a high percentage of squalane literally puts back what time takes away, restoring the proper balance of oils and thus promoting radiance.

So where do we get squalane from and whats the difference between squalane and squalene? Squalane and Squalene are the same thing. Squalane is what we find in our cosmetics/ serums it is the hydrogenated version of squalene which is  a very unstable molecule found in olives, wheat germ, rice bran, camellia oil and even sharks livers. It makes up 12% of our skins sebum. Most of the squalane used in cosmetic products comes from olives but not ALL so always check the label and or contact the  manufacturer to ensure its not sourced from sharks.

The hydrogenated version squalane is more stable and thus useable. This silky soft oil penetrates quickly and deeply to hydrate and soften the skin, its anti oxidant action helps prevent and repair UV damage to the skin, it offers skin cell regenerating properties and is anti bacterial. Squalane is non comedogenic so it will not clog pores and as it creates a barrier between our skin and the environment it helps the skin retain moisture and protects the epidermis at the same time. It would be highly beneficial for dry skin conditions, eczema, psoriasis and post operative skin. So for all of you who have been exposed to too much sun growing up in this sunburnt country of ours squalane has been reported to have a positive effect on uneven pigmentation, scars and age spots while it softens fine lines and wrinkles.

If you have been contemplating more invasive measures to help turn back the clock just remember that surgery might pull things back into place but it wont give you that youthful radiant glow that squalane will.
